Death
Jackson Carl Furr, 76, of Route 3, High Point Glenola Community, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday in High Point Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for five days. He had been in declining health six years. Mr. Furr was born April 30, 1888, in Stanly County. He was a resident of High Point most of his life and was married June 30, 1946, to Ollie Ingram. For 40 years, he was employed at Adams-Millis Corp., retiring nine years ago. More recently, he had worked as a night watchman at Hatteras Yacht. He was a mason and a member of Numa F. Reid Lodge No. 344 A.F.&A.M. He was a member of, First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ollie I. Furr of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Harris of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, J. S. Furr of Concord. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sechrest Chapel by Dr. Alfred L. Miller. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home, and the family will be at the funeral home Friday night 7 until 9.The High Point Enterprise, High Point, North Carolina, May 16, 1974
