Death
HIGH POINT — A High Point man was killed and another injured yesterday in a flash gasoline fire in the garage of the North State Telephone Co. here. Croson Carl Furr, 50, of 134 Manor Drive was fatally injured when he suffered second-degree burns of the upper body and internal burns of the lungs and throat, caused from inhaling fumes and flame. Dr. Clarence A. Valet, Guilford medical examiner, said Furr and Joseph Ronald Kelly, were cleaning out a grease pit in the garage when the flash fire occurred. Kelly was taken to High Point Memorial Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit. Mr. Furr was born in Albermarle (sic) to J. Carl and Hattie Hatchel Furr. He was a member of the Jamestown Presbyterian Church and an employe (sic) of the North State Telephone Co. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marion Griffing Furr; a daughter, Mrs. Gail Ann Fogleman of Van Nuys, Calif.; his father of High Point; and a sister.
