ALBEMARLE - Mrs. Cora Furr Gantt, 89, retired owner of J.E. Gantt Plumbing & Heating Co. and Hulane Gas Co., died March 20, 1991, at Stanly Memorial Hospital. Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Main Street United Methodist Church. Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Stanly Funeral Home. Survivors are her sons, William Gantt of St. Simons Island, Ga., Grover Gantt, Max Gantt; daughter, Mrs. Dona McSwain; brother, Robert Furr of Dunn; sister, Mrs. Ruby Morgan.

ALBEMARLE — Cora Furr Gantt, 89, of 1418 Hickory Ave, died at 915 am Wednesday, March 20, 1991, at Stanly Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 pm Friday at Main Street United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev Michael Macdonald. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will be at Stanly Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight. Born July 17, 1901, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Nelson and Sarah Mann Furr. She was the retired owner of JE Gantt Plumbing and Heating Company and Gantt Rulane Gas Company. A member of Main Street United Methodist Church, she taught the Cora Gantt Sunday School Class and was a life member of United Methodist Women. She was an officer in the Stanly County American War Mothers and was a past worthy matron of Eastern Star, Albemarle Chapter 71. Her husband, James E Gantt, died April 19, 1949. Survivors include three sons, Grover L Gantt and H Max Gantt, both of Albemarle, and William M “Bill” Gantt of St Simon's Island, Ga , a daughter, Mrs Reece (Dona) McSwain of Albemarle, a brother, Robert M Furr of Dunn, a sister, Mrs Robert (Ruby) Morgan of Albemarle, 17 grandchildren, 27great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
