ALBEMARLE — Emma Furr Smith, 91, of 1418 Hickory Ave, died at 2 35 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan 1, 1991, at Stanly Memorial ! Hospital. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Main Street United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael McDonald. Burial will be in Stony Hill United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, tonight from 7 to 9 and the remainder of the time at the home of a niece, Frances Hahn of 1428 Hickory Ave. Born Oct 30, 1899, in Stanfield, Mrs Smith was a daughter of the late Robert Nelson and Sarah McCurdy Mann Furr. The retired part owner and operator of Wayside Flower Shop, she was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she was active in all phases of church work as long as her health permitted. Her first husband, Carl S Moton, and her second husband, Ben F Smith, preceded her in death. Survivors include a brother, Robert McCurdy Furr of Dunn, and two sisters, Cora F. Gantt and Ruby F Morgan, both of Albemarle.
