Death
Geraldine Furr Beamer "Jerry' Brown CONCORD -- Mrs. Brown, 78, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at her home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2007 at McEwen - Mint Hill Chapel with Reverend Leland Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown was born July 5, 1929 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late Earl Bowman Furr and Ruth Moss Furr. In addition to her parents, her husbands, Archie Beamer and Joseph C. Brown and her siblings, Margaret Foster, Larry Furr, Earl Furr and Bubba Furr preceded her in death. During her career, Mrs. Brown formerly worked for Carolina Freight and Eckerd Drugstores and she later retired as the food manager for AMF University Lanes. Mrs. Brown is survived by her children, Linda Simpson (Barry), Brenda White (Don), Kimberly Gillis, and Buddy Beamer (Barbara); seven grandchildren, Dwayne, Jason, Michelle, Tiffany, Jeremy, Joshua, and Zachary; four great grandchildren, Triston, Nathan, Sarah Catherine, and Avery; and her sisters, Mott Fowler (Ken) and Pete Penniger. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mrs. Brown's caregiver, her sister, Mott Fowler and her husband, Ken for their kind and compassionate care of Mrs. Brown during her illness. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis, NC 28081. Arrangements by McEwen - Mint Hill Chapel.Endnotes
