Death

Flora Mae Furr Burleson, 86, of 28028 Canton Rd., Albemarle, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997, in Carolinas Medical Center. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Canton Baptist Church, where she was a member. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The Rev. Les Schoffield and The Rev. Gary Hunsucker will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Born June 23, 1911, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Eliza Jane Poplin Furr and was a homemaker. Her husband, James Harvey Burleson, preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Bennie J. Burleson of Albemarle; three daughters, Judy Jardina of Stamford, Conn., Gail Russell of Norwood and Myra Whitley of Albemarle; three sisters, Louise Mauldin of Albemarle, Mildred “Mick” Cagle of New London and Peggy Herrin of Oakboro; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 this evening at Hartsell Funeral Home.
