Death
Services for Lonnie M. Furr, a retired newspaper linotype operator and machinist were held at the Lithgow Carol City Chapel. Mr. Furr, of 376 NE 87th St. died here Monday. He was 73. Mr. Furr came to the area from Charlotte, N.C., after retiring due to medical disabilities. He had spent 35 years in the newspaper business, the last 25 with The Charlotte Observer. He was a member of the International Typography Union. He worked as a civilian mechanic in the Newport News, Va., shipyard during World War I. Survivors include a son, Lonnie L.; a daughter, Mrs. Nell Vita; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and two brothers.The Miami Herald, Miami, Florida, July 19, 1969
