Death
CONCORD — Albert Pinkney Furr, 84, old Charlotte road, died Thursday at 3:33 p.m. at the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital after an illness of several years. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Westford Methodist Church by the pastor, the Rev. C. C. Phillips, assisted by the Rev. E. J. Harbinson. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery. The body will remain at Wilkinson’s Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state half an hour prior to the rites. Mr. Furr was born in Cabarrus county June 14, 1881, son of Adam Furr and Mrs. Sara Widenhouse Furr. He was the retired owner of A. P. Furr Grocery which he operated for 57 years. He was a charter member of the Westford Methodist Church and also of the Epworth Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Board of Stewards of the Westford Church and a member of the Golden Age Club. His wife, Mrs. Sarah Ellen Perry Furr, preceded him in death. Surviving are three sons, A. Floyd Furr of Gastonia, Dr. Curtis E. Furr and Reece E. Furr of Concord; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.Independent Tribune, Concord, North Carolina, October 1, 1965
