Death
CONCORD, Nov. 17. — Rev. Lester S. Furr, 35, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Furr of New London, died Sunday morning at 6:30 o'clock in the Cabarrus hospital after a lengthy (sic) illness. Mr. Furr was born December 8, 1910, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Furr. He is survived by his parents, his wife, the former Miss Cornelia Howard of High Point; a son, Lester Howard Furr; two brothers, Clifford Furr and Martin Furr, both of New London; two sisters, Mrs. Howard Watson of Albemarle, and Mrs. Gaither Dry of Gold Hill. Mr. Furr was educated at Rutherfordton college, High Point college, and Duke university. He served as minister in Gibsonville and was associate pastor of First Methodist church in Charlotte under the late Dr. C. C. Weaver. For four years he was the Methodist minister at Gold Hill. He was then transferred to Mount Pleasant where he was entering his fourth year as pastor. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock from Mount Pleasant Methodist church. The body will remain at the church from 3 to 4 o'clock. Officials of the church will act as active pallbearers, and ministers of the Salisbury district will act as honorary pallbearers. Rev. R. M. Courthney, superintendent of the Salisbury district, will officiate, and Rev. Edgar H. Nease, pastor of West Street Methodist church in Greensboro, will assist.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, November 18, 1946
