Death
STAMFORD -- Charles H. Furr Sr., 79, of Stamford, died 11:55 a.m. Friday of an apparent heart attack at the Stamford Memorial Hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Kinney Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Way, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Born Feb. 4, 1898, in Lindsey, Okla., he married Ethel Glover Oct. 9, 1921, in Lindsey. In 1926 they moved to Texas where he farmed in the Plainview Community until 1963. He was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles Jr. of Stamford and Altom of Rush Springs, Okla.; a daughter, Wanda Bailiff of Wichita Falls; three brothers, Otis of Marlow, Okla., and Ray and Melvin, both of California; two sisters, Alta Billingsly of Delano, Calif., and Ruby Point of Burleson; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren,. Pallbearers will be Joe Benton, George Long, Steven Huffman, Gary Lee, Jimmy Farmer and Roy Dorman.Abilene Reporter-News, Abilene, Texas, October 16, 1977
