Death
OAKBORO — Walter Lee Furr, 70, of Oakboro, died this morning at 12:30 o’clock at Stanly County Hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 2 pm at Friendship United Methodist Church on Rt. 3, Albemarle conducted by the Rev. J. G. Allred. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at the Lefler Funeral Home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9 o’clock. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Born Feb. 7, 1908, in Stanly County, Mr. Furr was a son of the late Beachum and Maggie House Furr. He was a retired salesman for Lefer Furniture Company and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. His first wife, Flora Belle Eudy Furr, died in 1969. Survivors include his second wife, Mildred Morton Furr, two sons, Bobby Felix Furr of New London and W. L. Furr Jr. of Pineville three brothers, Albert Furr of Norwood, John Furr of High Point and George Furr of Concord, one stepson, Ronald V. Morton of the U S. Army stationed in Germany, one stepdaughter, Mrs. Brenda Lee of Fayetteville, Ark., five grandchildren, four great-grand-children and one step-granddaughter.Endnotes
