Death
John Alfred Furr, 92, of 701 S. Elm St., High Point, died at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday in High Point Regional Hospital. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cumby Eastchester Drive Chapel. The Rev. John L. Petry, III, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery in Richfield. Born Dec. 3, 1904, in Richfield, he was a son of the late Beachum and Maggie House Furr. He had been a resident of High Point since 1939 and retired in 19656 (sic) from Wood-Armfield Furniture Co., where he was service manager. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was married to the late Mae Culp Furr. Surviving are a daughter, Frances “Fuzzy” Best of High Point, and a brother, Albert Furr of Norwood. The family was to receive friends at Cumby Mortuary on Eastchester Drive, High Point from 2 to 4 p.m. today. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1401 Heathcliff Rd., PO.
