Death
Walter Lee Furr, 85, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2011. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he was born in Albemarle, NC on August 18, 1926 to Walter L. and Flora Bell Eudy Furr. He served two tours with the US Army during WWII and later attended Carolina Business School where he met the love of his life, Betty Jo Hoover, his beloved wife of 62 years. He worked for more than 50 years as a manufacturer's representative in the packaging industry. When he was not serving his customers, he enjoyed working on his farm. Walter is survived by his wife, Betty Jo; son, David Furr and wife Pamela; daughter, Connie Furr Soloman and husband Mike and grandchildren, Anne, Charlotte and Richard. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 6 at Harrison United Methodist Church with a reception following. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Special thanks to Walter's caregiver during his final years, Jackie Taylor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harrison United Methodist Church, 15008 Lancaster Highway, Pineville, NC 28134.
