Death
LEXINGTON, May 6 — Mrs. Laura Jean Almond Furr, 72, widow of Grover Cleveland Furr, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 6:15 p.m. today at her home. She had been in declining health for three years. Mrs. Furr was born in Stanly County Nov. 18, 1884, daughter of Robert and Bell Whitley Almond. Her husband died July 10, 1921. Surviving are four sons, Grover Lee, Clayton, George C. and Theodore Furr, all of Lexington; two daughters, Mrs. W. D. Yarbrough and Mrs. W. C. Brinkley of Lexington; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Adam Almond of Albemarle and two sisters, Mrs. Hinson Stallings of Albemarle and Mrs. A. C. Furr of Stanfield. The body will remain at Piedmont Funeral Home pending arrangements.Winston-Salem Journal, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, May 7, 1956
