Individual Details
Philomene "Minnie" LACOMB
(Dec 1853 - 11 Sep 1907)
Age 6 on 1861 Census of Québec (St-Boniface de Shawinigan, St-Maurice Co.); the record states that she was born in the United States. Probably born in Fort Edward, Washington County, New York.
According to Stella Raboin, family members distinguished this Minnie LaComb Raboin from the other (one married to Mose Raboin) by calling them Aunt Minnie-Mose and Aunt Minnie-Rick. The two Philomenes were first cousins.
The 1870 Census shows Philomene's parents, Peter and Minnie LaComb and their seven other children living in Fort Edward, New York. I'm not sure why she herself was not listed there, as she would not be married for another two weeks. This family shared a house with the Charles LaComb family. Charles was the brother of Peter LaComb. His wife was the former Margaret Bush, and her younger sister, Mary Bush, age 17, was boarding with them. Charles and Margaret also had one son, Amor, age 7. Here we get some idea of how the Raboins and the LaCombs and Bushes may have gotten together. The brothers Frederick and Max Raboin each courted and married one of the young ladies from this household. They were from the same area in Québec, and the families were likely aware of each other from the beginning. Frederick married Philomene LaComb on 27 June 1870 (two weeks after this census listing!) and Max married Mary Bush on 9 April 1871. Eleven years later, their younger brother, Mose, may have been visiting his brothers in Daggett when he met the first cousin of Fred's Philomene, another Philomene LaComb. This cousin was the daughter of Mose LaComb, the brother of Peter and Charles above. Mose and Philomene married on 1 November 1882 in Daggett. Stella Raboin told me that they distinguished between the two Philomenes by calling them "Aunt Minnie-Mose" and "Aunt Minnie-Rick" ("Rick" being a nickname for Frederick).
-- MERGED NOTE ------------
Age 17 on the 1870 Federal Census of Fort Edward, Washington Co., New York.
She is not listed at all with this family on the 1861 Census of St-Boniface-de-
Shawinigan -- COULD WELL BE THE SAME PERSON AS CHILD #1, Philomene, since she
is not mentioned on the New York state census for Fort Edward.

Notes
Birth
Age 6 in 1861, but sister was born in October of 1855.Residence
Age 6Marriage
Info from parish records of St. Joseph's Parish in Fort Edward, by correspondence. His name was butchered even more badly than usual ("Deeny Arabon"), but the year and place correspond with other sources I have seen. Whether the priest originally mispelled his name so badly or whether the present pastor misread the handwriting, I don't know; I have not seen the original record.According to the information transcribed for me by the pastor of St. Joseph's Church from the marriage record, Frederick and Philomene were married by Rev. J. P. MaGee, and the witnesses were Mor'se Arabon (his uncle, Mose Raboin?) and Mary Ponchit. He could find no record of children.
Census (family)
Enumerated with this family were Frederick Raboine, a saw mill hand, age 25; his wife, Phenie, age 21; and son, Frederick, age 1 year and four months. They lived in a frame house, valued at $300. Frederick was reported to be an alien. He owned his land, and neither he nor Philomene could read or write.https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11668-101392-76?cc=1918735&wc=M9SL-4WY:n1686421792
Census (family)
Head of house listed as Fredick Rebwin, and wife's given name is illegible, but the ages of the family members and the names of the children fit. Also, they live right next to the families of Peter and Minnie Lacomb, Claude and Sophie LaComb, Frank and Odile (LaComb) Hart, and Moses and Virginia Lacomb -- all relatives of Philomene.http://interactive.ancestry.com/6742/4243577-00291?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.com%2fsearch%2fdb.aspx%3fdbid%3d1091%26path%3d&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnBrowsing

Death
Death record is under the name of Phelandra Raboin, with no indication of the husband's name, but obituary in the Menominee County Journal (14 Sep 1907) confirms that this was the same person. The burial record at Precious Blood says that she died of heart disease, and gives the date of death as September 10.Endnotes
