Obituary from The Wichita Eagle, April 20, 1925, page 5: Pioneer Kansan Dies. Sarah Kirkpatrick, Goddard Resident of State More Than Half Century. Sarah Kirkpatrick, 81, Sedgwick county pioneer and resident of Kansas for more then a half century, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe McMillen, near Goddard Sunday morning. Her husband C. C. Kirkpatrick, died seven months ago. They had been married 53 years. Heart disease caused death. Mr. and Mrs. Kirkpatrick came to Kansas from Illinois in the early seventies. They first settled in Johnson county and a few years later filed on a homestead near Clearwater. They moved in Goodard about five years ago. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Harry Likely, Dodge City and Mrs. J. C. Pike, Goddard. three sons G. W. Wichita, J. H. and W. G. , Burklin, Kan. Funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. McMillen, nine miles west and three south of Wichita, today at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be made in Clearwater cemetery. City Undertaking Co. is in charge.
