Obituary from The Bucklin Banner, Bucklin Ford County, Kansas, Thursday, October 11, 1962: Bill Kirkpatrick Commits Suicide. The body of Bill Kirkpatrick, 77, was found suspended by a small chain in a tool shed at his home Tuesday afternoon. He had been in poor health the past several years and he is believed to have hanged himself. Bill had been down town Tuesday morning in apparent good spirits and his death came as a shock to his friends of the community where he and his family had made their home the past 40 years. Bill had operated a road maintainer for Ford County about 20 years and later worked for the City of Bucklin. His health was such after retiring that he was unable to work in recent years. He is survived by his widow of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Dallas Schellhamer of Bucklin and Mrs. John Wright of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. from the Minnis Funeral Chapel with Paul Manning, pastor of the Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in the Bucklin cemetery.
