Lubbock, March 13---Wiley Woodrow Aycock, 19, Lubbock High school football player who was a member of the mythical District 1 team last falls, was drowned in Buffalo Springs Lake in Yellowhouse Canyon, 12 miles southeast of Lubbock, today. About an hour after a boat in which Aycock and two other youths, Jack Green and Russell Fulton, were playing upset, Aycock's body was recovered. He sank in water 10 or 12 feet deep despite efforts of Green and Fulton to save him. It was reported Aycock, who lettered two seasons at guard on the Westerner football team, could not swim. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Aycock of Lubbock; four brothers, and five sisters. Hobson Aycock, a brother, resides in Abilene. Another brother, Rex Aycock lives at Tulia. Funeral arrangements had not been made early tonight.

Lubbock, March 15---From one of the schoolboy football teams against which he played that last two seasons came a floral tribute for Wiley Woodrow Aycock, Westerner guard, who was drowned near here Wednesday. Amarillo Sandies, state football champions, and their coaches sent flowers for Aycock's funeral here Friday afternoon. Aycock, who was a District 1 guard last season will be carried to his grave by teammates.
