Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Lubbock, Texas, Tuesday, September 23, 2003: Services for Hobson D. Aycock, 97, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday in Sanders Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. He died peacefully at his home on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003. Hobson D. Aycock was born March 8, 1906 in Onealville, Texas to Wiley D. and Laura Belle Aycock. His family moved to South Plains in 1916. He graduated from Lorenzo High School. He married Dolores Marie White on Jan. 20, 1940 in Little Rock, Ark. He was employed by Furrs Foods for nine years and at Safeway Grocery for 28 years, at stores located in San Angelo, Colorado City, Abilene and Little Rock, Ark. He returned to Lubbock and was a salesman at Scoggin-Dickey Buick for 30 years and retired in Aug. 18, 1979. He was a member of Monterey Baptist Church, the Civitan Club and the Buick Salesmasters Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Gilmer, Orban, Rex and Woodrow Aycock; five sisters, Eunice McPherson, Helen Sides, Opal Harris, Lucille Wood and Ernestine Beecher. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty Jean Moore; and grandson, Chris Moore. The family request memorials to Hospice of Lubbock.
