In her husband William D. Elliott's pension papers, she states William left her 11 April 1874 and she was in Grant Co., Wisconsin until 1887 when she moved to Dubuque, Iowa. Also she was the mother of a child that was an invalid.
The Dubuque Times Journal, Friday May 16, 1919, Page 10: Mrs. Almira Parkin Dies Friday Morning. Mrs. Almira Parkin, age 77 years, died Friday morning at six o’clock at Finley hospital. She had been ailing for the past six months. She was born in Pennsylvania, February 3, 1842, and for the past 37 years had resided in Iowa. She is survived by two children, Milton Elliott, of East Dubuque and Mrs. John Rumple of Dubuque. Also by fifteen grandchildren. Two brothers, William Smith of Waterloo, and John Smith of Wyoming, and a sister Ruth Smith of Washington, surviving her. The funeral arrangements will be made later.
