Martha Louise Kirkpatrick

Martha Louise Kirkpatrick was born 25 December 1839 (or 25 January 1839, according to one source), Lee County, IA, and died 30 May 1920. She married 3 March 1859 at Lowell, Henry County, Iowa, to Thomas D. Dilts, son of Wilkinson Stine and Catherine (Newell) Dilts. Thomas was born 9 March 1831, West Liberty, Logan County, Ohio, and died 3 Jun 1914. In 1864, they moved from Louisa County to Baltimore Township, Henry County, Iowa and in 1870 they moved to Jackson Township, Henry County.
There were four children born of the marriage.

Mrs. Martha Dilts, after an illness of many months' duration, passed away at her home on West Main street Friday night. She was an aged, long time, highly esteemed resident of Salem. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Dr. W. A. Dilts, Shenandoah; Dr. J. J. Dilts, and Mrs. Owen Garretson, Salem. Funeral was held from the M. E. church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Rev. Victor Bloomquist officiating. Burial in East cemetery.
