Susan Jane Kirkpatrick

Jane Kirkpatrick was born 16 October 1831 in Illinois. In 1835 she crossed the Mississippi with her family and the family of her uncle, Thomas M. Kirkpatrick, and settled with them in Lee County, not far from West Point. In 1853 she moved again with her family to Henry County, Iowa. There, on 22 June 1858 she married John Thompson. Her first husband died only a few days after the marriage, and she married secondly on 15 March 1860 to Granville Lewis Arnold, who was born 20 December 1821 in Henry County, Virginia. Granville had been married before, in Clark County, Missouri, on 15 June 1848, to Adeline Langford. She died leaving four children, Hannah, Georgiann, Benjamin, and Calvin. Granville died 28 October 1875 in Nashville, Tennessee. The family had lived in Lee County, Iowa, and had gone to Tennessee via Houseboat. After Granville's death, Jane returned to Iowa with her five children. By 1888, Jane was living in Missouri. She died on 13 February 1897.

There were five children born of the second marriage.
