Individual Details

Nancy C. (Nannie) Briles

(Abt 1867 - 1908)

Descendants of Daniel Eli II report that Nancy and her husband also had a set of twins who died at birth and that they were not given names. One descendant gives the birth date for Nancy listed above. Another gives a birth date for her of 1872.

Leona Hays Connally Briles, the wife of the son of Nancy's brother Enoch Elwood Briles, reported that Nancy died during the birth of the twins. If Nancy died in 1908, then the twins were born and died in that year as well.

Nancy is not in the 1870 Randolph Co., N.C., Census with the rest of her family, but she is in the 1880 Randolph Co. Census as Daniel's daughter. Maybe she was visiting relatives, etc., when the 1870 Census was taken?

Nancy and Mattie can't both be born in 1867 (which some family history indicates to be the case) unless they are twins, and there is no indication that they were. If Mattie and Martha G. or C. of the 1880 Census are the same person, then Mattie's birth year is 1872. Have changed her birth year to 1872 accordingly.
