"Genealogical Guide to the Titus Family in North America" by William R. Arthurs states that John Titus was born 18 July 1786 in Colebrook, Coos Co., NH, died ca. 1830 in Ashtabula Co., OH, and was a minister of the Christian Church. Married Mehitabel Hawkins of Colebrook and had four named children.
"Titus Family in America" by Dorothy M. Titus dated July 1943, page 4, states that John Titus married _____ Hawkins of Colebrook, NH. Went west, probably to Ohio and died there.
Per "The genealogy of the Cleveland and Cleaveland families..etc." by Edmund James Cleveland dated 1899, page 2281-2, found at Heritage Quest Online: Rev. John Cleveland Titus was born 18 July 1786, in Colebrook, NH son of Eleazer Titus and Martha Cleveland, died in Ashtabula Co., OH, abt 1830 and married Mehitabel Hawkins, who survived him.
1816 poll tax for the town on Colebrook, NH show a John C. Titus living on the Wellman farm at the factory and taxed on two oxen, and two cows (see "History of Coos Co., NH" page 593).
1786 birth location was established by John's father, Eleazer Titus being named in a town meeting record found in the FHC film 15195 "Landaff, NH, Town Records" page 27. On page 584 of that film shows John's birth date.
