Individual Details
Elisabeth "Rathburn" Rossman
( - Aft 21 Sep 1795)
See material from Ed Rossman dated 4/20/1997. He thinks she was a Rossman also know as Lizzy. His material establishes her parents.
E-mail from Michael Hurdle states that the "Genealogy of the Olmsted Family in America" by Olmsted & Ward (1912) had Elizabeth Rathburn married to John C. Bresee, not a Rossman. Letter dated 23 July 1990 in Karen McIntyre file states: "John Bresee married Elizabeth Rossman and she died 1832. John then married Celinda Rathbun daughter of Gen S. Rathbun in 1834 in Delaware Gazett". The problem with this idea is that she would have been 18 at the marriage date and he would have been 83. Rathburn's husband was the John C. Bresee born in 1808.
Hand written note from Clarence Brisee indicates that Johannes C. Brissee married Elisabeth Rathbun (not Elisabetha Rossman?).
E-mail from Pat Gilbert dated 12/13/1999: " John C. Brazee married Celinda Rathborn, dau. of Gen. S. Rathborn, 2 Oct 1834 at Maryland (above Oneonta, Ortego Co. ?). From book "Delaware Co., NY Raw Materials from the Past"". This is not the correct John C. Bresee, see John C. Bresee born 9 Sept 1807.
Evangelical Lutheran Church in the town of Summit, NY, 24 APR. 1828 notice of death of Elizabeth Brazie, wife of John Brazie. This may not be related.
1887 See letter dated 23 July 1990 in Karen McIntyre file: "Polly Olmsted's obituary mentions her husband's, John Bresee, parents being John C. & Elizabeth (Rathburn) Bresee".

Christen
LDS film 933484 item 6 at the end of the film, which is a computer print out of christening's at the Reformed Ch, Linlithgo, Columbia, NY shows: Jury Rosman and Helena Lescher had Lisabeth christened 12 Dec 1756. LDS film 17737 is a a transcript of the "Records of Linlithgo Reformed Ch (NY) 1722-1867" which shows similar data with Johannes Rosman, Jr and Alida Petri as witness. On LDS film 17735 page 79, also shows Jury Rosman and Helena Lescher christening Lisabeth in 1756."By the way, the introduction of the given name 'Harmon' into the Bresee lines seems to have come from the Rossman line. Harmon's mother was baptized as 'Lisabeth Rosman', baptized 12 Dec 1756, Linlithgo Reformed Church, Livingston, Columbia, NY, # 0506, daughter of Jury Rosman and Helena Lescher. A brother of Elizabeth Rossman was baptized as Harmannus Rosman, baptized 01 Feb 1755, Linlithgo Reformed Church, Livingston, Columbia, NY, # 0430, parents Jurie Rosman and Lena Lesjer. I believe Harmon (Hermanus) Burzee was named for his uncle, Harmannus Rosman, his mother's brother."
Per Bruce Davis on Roots Web re: Jeremiah Bresee, 1776-1826

1800 census show a John C. Brazee in Kortright Town, Delaware County next to Andrew Brazee, his brother. In the home were: one male age 45+ (John C. Brazee who was 49), one male age 16-25 (Christopher I who was 24; Jeremiah age 21 had children by this time and may have been out of the home), two males age 10-15 (Hendrick 14 and Mark 9), two males age 0-9 (John age 4 and Johannes J age 5), one female age 0-9 (Catherine age 7), two females ages 16-25 (Lena age 17 and Elisabeth age 19) and one female age 45+ (wife Elizabeth age 48)Census
1810 census for Marlyand, Otsego Co., NY, shows a J.C. Bresee age 45+ (born before 1765) living with a woman age 45+ (possibly wife Elizabeth born 1852), a male age 10-15 (could be either son John or Johannes), a male age 16-25 (could be either son Mark or Hendrick) and a female age 16-25 (could be daughter Catherine). Also there is a C. Bresee age 26-44 and his family living near by who may be his son Christopher I. Bresee. Sharon Reck's records indicate that John C. Bresee was in Delaware Co. with his brother, Andrew and Andrew's son Michael, in 1810.In March 31, 1817 the town of Davenport, Delaware Co., NY, was created from parts of the older towns of Kortright and Maryland, Otsego Co., NY. Her husband appears in the Davenport census for 1820, therefore she was living most likely in Davenport in the 1810 census. She is not shown in the 1820 census and may have died.
