John C. Bresee moved to Berkshire Co., MA about 1757. Moved to Hillsdale, NY about 1790 (son Mark christened in Hillsdale, NY in 1791) and then to Delaware Co., NY with his brother Andrew.

1887 See letter dated 23 July 1990 in Karen McIntyre file: "Polly Olmsted's obituary mentions her husband's, John Bresee, parents being John C. & Elizabeth (Rathburn) Bresee".

1830 census shows a John Brisco age 70-79 (he would be about age 79) in Davenport, Delaware Co., NY, living next to a David Brisco age 30-39 (this could be his grandson age 32).

1827 land records for Delaware Co., NY, recorded on 5 Feb 1827 shows that John C. Bresee was a witness of a land sale by Harmanas and wife Polly Bresee and John and wife Polly Bresee as sellers (Deed Book pages 89-90 film 557788).

1820 census shows a John C. Bressee age 45+ in Davenport, Delaware Co., NY, living next to a Henry Bressee age 26-45 (his son who was age 34) and John Bressee age 16-25 (his son who was age 25).

1817 In March 31, 1817 the town of Davenport, Delaware Co., NY, was created from parts of the older towns of Kortright and Maryland, Otsego Co., NY. On April 8, 1817 the first town meeting was held. On 26 April 1817 when the Davenport School Board met for the purpose of forming the school districts, Jeremiah Bresee's (his son) farm formed a corner of the School Districts #4-5 being on the south side of the Charlotte River.

1810 census for Marlyand, Otsego Co., NY, shows a J.C. Bresee age 45+ (born before 1765) living with a woman age 45+ (wife Elizabeth born 1852), a male age 10-15 (could be either son John or Johannes), a male age 16-25 (could be either son Mark or Hendrick) and a female age 16-25 (could be daughter Catherine). Also there is a C. Bresee age 26-44 and his family living near by who may be his son Christopher I. Bresee. Sharon Reck's records indicate that John C. Bresee was in Delaware Co. with his brother, Andrew and Andrew's son Michael, in 1810.

1808 John C. Brezee of Delhi has a judgement against him per Delaware Co. Court of Common Pleas on 13 Feb 1808 as well as a Peter Brezee.

1807 John C. Bresee of Delhi has a judgement against him per Delaware Co. Court of Common Pleas on 8 Dec 1807. On 7 May 1807 John C. Brazee of Franklin has a judgement against him per Delaware Co. Court of Common Pleas.

1800 census show a John C. Brazee in Kortright Town, Delaware County next to Andrew Brazee, his brother. In the home were: one male age 45+ (John C. Brazee who was 49), one male age 16-25 (Christopher I who was 24; Jeremiah age 21 had children by this time and may have been out of the home), two males age 10-15 (Hendrick 14 and Mark 9), two males age 0-9 (John age 4 and Johannes J age 5). Not in this census was John age 15 who may have died since another child named John was born in 1796. In this census a Michael Brezee is shown in Franklin, Delaware Co. and a Peter Brazee is listed in Colchester, Delaware Co. On 8 Oct 1800 John C. Bresee of Kortright has a judgement against him per Delaware Co. Court of Common Pleas.

1797 the county of Delaware was formed from parts of Otsego and Ulster counties.

1795 son Johannes birth of 8 April 1795 and christening of 21 Sept 1795 at Dutch Reformed Church of Hillsdale, Columbia Co., NY, by Johannes Bresee and Elizabeth Rossman from LDS film 1016562 Item #4 page 44 (see file Rosman1016562). Johannes was born in Hillsdale per Revo Morrey file (see file RevoYoung.05_10.jpg).

1793 Johannes Brisee and Elizabeth Rossman christened daughter, Catharine with witnesses Johannes Krum and Catharine Schauerman on 14 July 1793, with birth recorded on 26 Jan 1793, at Dutch Reformed Church of Hillsdale, Columbia Co., NY found on LDS film 1016562 item 4 page 38 (see file Rosman1016562). 1793 daughter Catherine was born in Hillsdale per Revo Morrey file (see RevoYoung.05_10.jpg).

1790 Census shows a John C. Brissee in Hillsdale, Columbia Co., NY, along with Andrew H. Brissee, Andreis C. Brisee, and John H. Brissee.

1783 christening of daughter, Lena, 9 Feb 1783 by John and Elisabeth Bresi with Gery and Lena Rosmann as witness per LDS film 1016562 Item 4 page 17 "Records of the Dutch Reformed Ch of Hillsdale, Columbia Co, NY.

1775 marriage year and spouse is a best guess based on age, family location, christening of their children in 1793-1795 and birth of first child.

1751 - Per Sharon Reck study, John C. Bresee christened 28 Aug 1751 at Linlithgo, Columbia, NY., sponsors Jan and Catharina (could be Catharina Bresee b 1732) Halenbeeck. (See Baptismal Records of Linlithgo Reformed Church, Livingston, NY 1722-1899, page 57 FHC film 17735). Ancestry.com reports Johannes Bresie, son of Christoffel Bresie and Agnitje Rosman, baptized 28 Aug 1751 using the same source. 1739 birth is per Dr. Carl Bangs' book on the life of Phineas F. Bresee which shows John C. Bresee born in 1739 (this does not appear to be a correct birth year).
