Victoria Kamamalu

LIFE
A. She was named after her aunt Kamamalu, mate of Kamehameha II (Kwan et al, Na Lani Kamehameha, p 19).
B. Her kahus were John Ii and his wife Sarai (or Hiwauli). She was 2 years old when the Royal School opened (Pratt, Keoua: Father of Kings, p 53. She was kept by Kinau and not adopted by other chiefs (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 348) until Kinau died (Record of foster parents of the Kamehamehas and other chiefs, HEN v1 p 763-765).
C. She was governor of Oahu for many years (Hawaiian Chiefs Biographical Abstract).
D. She was Kuhina Nui from January 15, 1855 to August 13, 1864 when the office was abolished (Cartwright, The Genealogy of the Kamehameha Dynasty, p 21).
E. "This princess never married, and she died without children" (Descendants of Prince Keeaumoku I, Hms G65, Chart 8-A-2; Pratt, Keoua: Father of Kings, p 31).
F. Conflict: Cartwright, The Genealogy of the Kamehameha Dynasty, p 21 states death date as June 1, 1866.
