Clarence lived on the Nygaard family farm. When his parents, Gustav and Petra died, he lived on the farm to continue the farming. Clarence loved animals, especially horses. Clarence had a gentle nature. Clarence did like to have fun with gentle teasing of the nieces and nephews. He cared about the environment and never used chemicals on his farm land.

Services for Clarence G. Nygaard were held on November 13, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church at Hendricks, MN. Mr. Nygaard died Saturday, Nvoember 10, at the Hendricks Community Hospital. Clergy officiating at the service were Pastor John Trom and Pastor Rebbeca Sogge. The eulogy was given by his niece Lorenchia Scott. Soloist was Rev. Lloyd C. Kallevig singing "I Have a Friend" and "You Must Open the Door". Congregational hymns were "Children of the Heavenly Father" and "Precious Lord, Take my Hand" with Mrs. Julie Hogie as organist. Pallbearers were Donald Nygaard, Wayne Nygaard, Glen Kvernmo, Darwin Hindbjorgen, Eldon Lovro and Milton Johnson. Interment was in the East Hendricks Cemetery with the Johnson Funeral Home in Hendricks handling the funeral arrangements. Clarence was born on April 16, 1909 in Hendricks Township of Lincoln County to Gustav and Petra (Fjeseth) Nygaard. He grew up and attended rural school in the Hendricks area. July 22, 1950 he married Mayme Erickson in Hendricks. The couple farmed on his family's farm until 1974 when they moved into Hendricks. Clarence loved the land and farming and he respected the use of his land. He loved the farm animals, especially the horses which was his favorite topic of conversation. In July 1985 he suffered a major stroke but was still able to live an interesting life cutting quilt pieces, enjoying his home and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Mayme, one son Charles, one daughter-in-law Barbara, three grandsons Matthew, David, and Johnathon of Hendricks and one sister, Dora Kvernmo of the Hendricks Retirement Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alma, and five brothers, Marvin, Oscar, Ingvald, Elmer and Gehard. We are blessed with good memories of Clarence and we will miss him.
