StrokeSERVICES SAID FOR MRS. MCLAIN - Long Time, Beloved Resident of Brooklyn Vicinity
Funeral rites for Mrs. W. J. McLain were held Sunday, the 17th at two o'clock iat Grace Methodist Church, Brooklyn, in charge of the Rev. M. O. McKenzie, pastor. Assisting with the services was the Rev. E. W. F. Holler, Leo Shuler was at the organ.
Internment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: U. J. Hansen, Fred Willett, W. I. Wasson, Lynn Montgomery, J. L. McCluskey and Jack Himschoot. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. U. J. Hansen, Mrs. J. L. McCluskey, and Mrs. Lynn Montgomery.
Mrs. McLain, 84 years old, died last Thursday evening at St. Francis hospital in Grinnell where she was taken the same morning after suffering a stroke at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Molison where she was visiting. She had lived in and near Brooklyn all of her life.
Born Near Brooklyn
Minnie Louise Breniman, daughter of Reuben and Minnie Pierce Breniman, was born near Brooklyn August 26, 1867. She attended school in her home district and later attended the Grinnell Academy. As a child she united with the Moravian church southeast of Brooklyn and later transferred her membership to Grace Methodist church in Brooklyn.
She married William James McLain December 24, 1896, and the family lived on the farm southeast of Brooklyn until moving into Brooklyn. Mrs. McLain was an active member of the Mehtodist church and also a members of the Order of Eastern Star and Pythian Sisters.
She is survived by four children; Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Breckenridge of Ames; Mrs. Wilbur (Miriam) Molison of Grinnell and Marvin and Maynard McLain of Brooklyn. She leaves twelve grandchildren: Mrs Harriett Turkington of Norman, Oka., Bruce Breckenridge of Rochester, N. Y., Esther Breckeridge of Ames, Mrs. Elanor Gates of Raleigh, N. C., Bill Jackson of Chicago, Mac, Mary and Robert Molison of Grinnell, Richard McLain with the air force at Tacoma, Wash., Muriel, Roger and Billy McLain of Brooklyn. Two great-grandchildren also survive, Lee, Laughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Breckenridge, and Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Mrs. Margery Jackson.
