William Rudolph "Billy" BRENIMAN

Notice in the newspaper...William R. Breniman died in Ft. Collins, Colo. 11 Nov 1908 of Pulmonary affliction, age 31 years, 10 mo., 11 days. He came to Colorado when 18 years old. His last desire was that his brothers should all give their hearts to Jesus. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.L. Chase assisted by Rev L.C. Woodford at the M.E. Church at 2 P.M. Friday.
William attended the Ft. Collins High School after moving to Fort Collins and the Agricultural College. After leaving college, he engaged in the mercantile business with W.G. Silcott, which he continued as long as his health permitted. After leaving that business he engaged in the stock feeding business.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and B.P.O.Elks.

Notes

Death

A letter dated 02 July 1998 from Stewart McSherry to Pat Rowell states that William was afflicted with TB and that part of the reason for the Breniman's move to Fort Collins from Poweshiek County, Iowa, was to hope for a cure for him. His health began to get worse about five years before his death. Everything was done that could be to restore his health. Two winters before his death he spent the winter in Texas with Mr. Silcott. A year before his death, his father took him to California. The best medical skill was employed to no avail.
