Funeral services for John Morgan Davis, Sr., 89-year-old pioneer Chickasaw countian, who died at 7:30 pm Friday, June 9, at his home on Route Route 2, were conducted at 2 pm, Sunday from the Houston Funeral Home chapel.
The Rev. Roy Brown and the Rev. Bobby Hankins officiated. Interment was in the Concord Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jerry Foster, Sonny Foster, Lamar Beaty, Wayne Johnson, Freddie Grant and Towery Grant.
Mr. Davis, a retired farmer and landowner, was born Oct. 24, 1878. He was the son of John L Davis and Sally Porter Davis. He was a member of the Concord Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virgie Davis of Route 2, Houston; four daughters, Mrs. Otha Foster, Mrs. Leon Neal, and Mrs. Jodie Gormley, all of Houston, and Mrs. Mollie Prince of Enum-Claw, Wash.; four sons, John Morgan Davis, Jr., Okolona, Porter Davis of Pittsburgh, Pa., Gilliam Davis of Bossier City, La., and Doxie Davis of Wilbur, Washington. Twenty-two grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren also survive.
