Miles Van Alstine has taken possession of his recent purchase of real estate and Thursday evening [20th] this new home was the scene of a wedding that of George L. Ivory and Mrs. S. S. Nobles.

Watertown Herald Sat. April 7, 1906 issue: In mid-January 1906 George had to have several operations. He was in the hospital at Watertown until early April. He returned home weak but expected to make a full recovery.

George L. Ivory, the blind storekeeper at Sackets Harbor died last Friday. His nearest surviving relatives are 2 nephews in Smithville. Away back in '48, Mr. Ivory had his eyes blown out by a blast in California. He had been at Sackets Harbor about twenty years. To each parcel or article for sale in his little store a piece of notched cardboard was attached. The notches indicated to him the selling price. He was about 74 years old.
