Ruth still lived in Dartmouth, Massachusetts with her family. She must have gone to California without her parents some time from late 1860-early 1864 before she wed Henry.
Daughter Nelle (Ellen A.)'s obituary states she was born in Berryessa Highlands, Napa County in 1867. This must be Berryessa, Santa Clara County which is four miles north east of San Jose, the city where the Henry Ivory family lived in 1870.
1870 U.S. Census Henry and Almie, born in Massachusetts, live at San Jose, Santa Clara County. He is a blacksmith, They have three children: Charles L. age 4, Nellie age 2 and Minnie age 11/12.
1880 U.S. Census California, Santa Barbara, Lompoc. Henry and Alusie Ivory age 36 have Charles L, 14, Ellen A., age 12, Minnie A. age 10 and Henry 6/12 born Dec 1879.
1900 U.S. Census California, Santa Barbara County, Carpenteria. Henry W. and wife, Alma R. lived with daughter Grace F. born May 1888. Henry was a blacksmith. He and Alma had been married 37 years. They had three living children out of six. Henry and his father were born in New York. His mother was born in Massachusetts.
Henry W. Ivory in grave 4, Ruth A. Ivory in Grave 3, Charles L. Ivory in Grave 5 and Henry B. Ivory in grave 6 are all buried in Lot 130 at Evergreen Cemetery in Lompoc. Georgie D. Ivory is listed in grave 7 but no dates are given.
