Funeral services are pending at Denton Funeral Home for Rosie Lee Spencer, 89, 2114 N. Canal St., who died at her home today.
Born in Kimble County, Texas, she settled in the Lakewood area in 1908. She married George R. Spencer in 1914 and they lived in Andrews, Texas until they moved to Carlsbad in 1924.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Gospel Church, and a charter member of the National Grandmothers of America.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond W. Spencer of Carlsbad, David A. Spencer of Creal Spring, Ill., and Charles E. Spencer, Bloomfield, N.M.; three daughters, Mildred Williams of Carlsbad, Elsie Marrero of Whittier, Calif., and Rosa Lee Hutton, Pie Town, N.M.; 25 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
SPENCER
Funeral services for Rosie Lee Spencer, 89, 2114 N. Canal St., will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Denton Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. The Rev. Lois McCarty, Emmanuel Gospel Church will officiate.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons
