"Grandma McDowell who is an octogenarian, had the misfortune to fall one day last week and break a limb, has faint hopes of recovery, although everything that can be done is being done for the sufferer."
From the "Troy Echo," January 15, 1915:
"Mrs. Margaret McDowell died at the home of her son three miles south of town on Lake Creek, at 12:50 Sunday afternoon, at the advanced age of 83 years, 4 months and 24 days, as the result of a fall she sustained some three weeks ago, from which she was unable at her advanced age to recover.
Margaret Fulker was born in Maryland and was united in marriage at the age of 22 to Andrew Jackson McDowell, who passed from this life on August 14, 1914. Coming to Montana 12 years ago, Mrs. McDowell, with her husband has lived with her son's family here the past three years. She leaves, besides her son Cypress, 4 sons and a daughter; Dave at Flora, Iowa, A. J. at Meadow Creek, Montana, Jonathan at Cairo, Nebraska, William at Denver, Colorado, and Lydia Mencer at Searsboro,Iowa.
Funeral services conducted by Reverend J. L. Hanna were held at the house Monday afternoon after which interment took place at the Milnor Cemetery."
