John Shelby FIDLER
(12 Oct 1910 - 6 Feb 1945)
Obituary in Cedar County Republican, Feb. 8, 1945.
"Shelby Fidler 34, died at a hospital in Greenfield early Tuesday morning February 6th. His death is attributed to an infection in a leg that was injured a few days ago when struck by a belt thrown from a hammermill. The metal lacing on the belt cut a gash in one of his legs. While the wound was not considered serious, death came swiftly after the infection set in.
John Shelby Fidler, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fidler, was a well respected, popular young farmer in South Madison township, where he grew to manhood. He operated a farm near Cane Hill and was always ready and willing to help as all neighbors are. He will be sadly missed by the entire community. Surviving besides the parents are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Fidler and two small children, Carolyn Ann and John Wayne who is but a few months old; three brothers Joe and Barnard of Fair Play and Paul of the U. S. Navy and now stationed in New Guinea; two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Jones of Tulare, California; and Mrs. Velma Council of Richmond, California.
Funeral services are incomplete but will be in charge of Church & Neale of Stockton."
Marriage date from bible.
He died from an infection in leg injured a few days previously when his leg was gashed by a belt thrown from a hammermill. Per Emma Jean.
