Elmira: John W. Fidler, age 67, of Thornapple Drive, Elmira, NY died Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. John was born in Greenfield, MO on September 20, 1944, the son of John S. and Lucy (Todd) Fidler. He received his education from Ohio State, Ph.D. in Poultry Nutrition, University of Missouri, M.S. in Poultry Nutrition, and a B.S. in Poultry Science. John worked as President and CEO of Southern Tier HACCP Consulting, LLP, a consultant for Kreamer Feeds in Kreamer, PA and for the Pennfield Corporation in Lancaster, PA, as a VP of Technical Services and Procurement for the Pennfield Corporation in Lancaster, PA. John served his country as a commissioned officer in the United States Army from 1965 until 1976. His hobbies include golfing, hunting, fishing, hiking, trap shooting, woodworking, and cooking/grilling. His memberships include the American Legion Post 1612 Big Flats, 1998-2006 PennAg Industries Board of Directors, 2003-2006 Chairman of Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Advisory Board, 2000-2006 Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Advisory Board, appointed by the Secretary Of Agriculture, 1996-1998 Pennsylvania Poultry Federation Board of Directors, 1990-1993 AFIA Nutrition Council Executive Committee, Poultry Science Association, Dairy Science Association, and the Lancaster Hempfield Rotary Club. He also served as a volunteer mediator for the Community Dispute Resolution Center in Chemung County. He is survived by his wife, Mitzi; three sons, Paul (Katie) Fidler of Cleveland, OH, Sean (Jackie) Fidler of Brownstown, PA, and Shelby (Amber) Fidler of Lancaster, PA; stepson, Bradford Wade of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Carolyn (Gary) Kenney of Schell City, MO and Peggy (Jim) Tedlock of Nevada, MO; grandchildren, Emily, Daniel, Ashley, Nicole, and Tessa; mother-in-law, Darleen (Robert) Pfeiffer of Landisville, PA; two aunts, Ruby Dean Fidler of Fair Play, MO and Dorothy Fidler of Tulare, CA; several nieces and nephews; his dog and faithful companion, Ruby Sue. A Memorial Celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, February 11th, at Victory Highway Wesleyan Church, 150 Victory Highway, Painted Post, NY at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made "In Memory Of:" John W. Fidler directed to Kidney Cancer Association (kidneycancer.org) or International Myeloma Foundation (myeloma.org).
