" Services for Joe Charles Fidler, 69, of Fair Play were at 2 p.m.Sunday, Nov. 10, in Brumback Chapel with Fidell Bridges and Ralph Benham officiating. Burial was in Lindley Prairie Cemetery.

Joe Charles Fidler, the son of Sam and Mary Liza (Jones) Fidler, was born Oct. 16, 1916, near Bear Creek. He departed this life Wednesday,Nov. 6, 1985, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield,following a long illness. He lived only 20 days past his 69th birthday.
Except for a year or so spent in California, Joe had made Cedar County his home. He had lived at the present home site for 40 years. He was a farmer and carpenter until eight years ago when ill health limited his activities.
On Sept. 17, 1941, he was united in marriage to Ruby Dean Tindle at Fair Play. To this union, six children were born: two sons, Charles Thomas and Gregory Gene; four daughters, Pamela Sue, Patricia Lynn and twins, Linda Jo and Brenda Dean, who died in infancy.
In November 1948, he accepted Christ and was baptized into the Oak Grove Baptist Church where he remained a member.
Joe was the fourth of six children and was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Shelby and Paul, who died only two months ago on Aug. 31.
His survivors are his devoted wife, Ruby Dean; two sons, Thomas "Tommy" of Joplin and Gregory of Stockton; two daughters, Pamela of the home; and Patricia of Springfield; two sisters and their husbands, Velma and Guy Laverty of Richmond, Calif., and Willma and Lawrence Jones of Fair Play; one brother, Bernard and his wife, Emma Jean of Fair Play; two daughters-in-law, Sandy and Dorothy; one sister-in-law,Dorothy Fidler; seven grandchildren, ...."
