Died At Hospital Last Friday
Funeral services were held Monday, January 29, for Mrs. John C. Schmidt, who passed away at the John McDonald hospital at 2:40 p.m. January 25. The funeral was held at the Goettsch funeral home at 2 p.m., Dr. William J. Grossheim, officiating. Burial was made at Oakwood cemetery.
Mrs. Schmidt's death followed an extensive illness. She was a daughter of Gerhard and Christine Eiben. Her maiden name was Wilhelmina Christine Eiben. She was born November 27, 1886, and was confirmed March 31, 1901 at St. Peter and Paul's Ev. Lutheran church in Castle Grove township, the Rev. Lutz, her pastor.
She was united in marriage to John Carl Schmidt, August 20, 1907. Besides her husband she is survived by four daughters, Sophie (Mrs. Daniel Zumbrunnen), Pontiac, Mich., Eloise (Mrs. Robert Wilcox), Monticello, and Joanne and Bernice who live at home; also by three sons, Gerhard, Monticello, Lawrence, Seattle, Wash, and LaVerne, Camp Bowie, Texas. One child died in infancy. Other survivors include nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Cornelius Eiben, Wymore, Neb.; John Eiben, Waubeek; Henry and Will Eiben, Prairieburg; Chris Eiben, Monticello; Mrs. Albert Heiken and Mrs. John Heiken, Monticello; and Mrs. Will Martin, Manchester.
