Individual Details
Elizabeth Haden
(18 Jun 1773 - )
Division of the Estate of Zachariah Haden was ordered, 21 Mar 1793 and reported 19 Aug 1793. Elizabeth the younger to have Lot No. 5. 261 1/4 acrs of land. Slaves - woman, Lydia, girl Polly. One fourth of a wagon body. 1 sorrel mare. 8 yearling cattle. Bed & furniture. Trunk. She was also to receive payments from her mother and brother Jesse to make her share equal with the others.
It is noted in the estate settlement that William Sampson was her guardian.
Marriage record states: Elizabeth Haden, the younger. Married 27 Dec 1793 to Stephen Murrell. Capt. Sampson is her guardian. Surety: William Sampson. Married by Rev. Charles Hopkins. Bond was posted the previous day.
Stephen & Elizabeth Murrell claimed she had not received all of the cash payment due her from her father's estate. They filed suit in Chancery Court against Robert Haden, executor of Zachariah Haden, dec'd for the sum of approximately 15#'s.
19 Feb 1805 Subpeona issued to Robert Haden to appear in Goochland court to answer the charges against him. Apparently the case was settled privately.
14 Apr 1806 "I thank you to dismiss the Suit that Instituted against Mr. Robert Haden, Administrator to the Estate of Zachariah Haden Deceased." Signed: Stephen Murrell
Although it has been stated that Elizabeth Haden Murrell died in Columbus, Lowndes Co MS, I think that she was living with her son Zachariah in 1820 in Greene Co.
Zachariah Haden Murrell was apparently a son of Elizabeth and Stephen.
