Jesse Haden
(6 Sep 1776 - )
Jesse and Elizabeth were first cousins once removed, Jesse was a grandson of Anthony Haden/Margaret Douglas; Elizabeth was a great-granddaughter - her mother was a daughter of John Haden/Jean Moseley.
Division of the Estate of Zachariah Haden was ordered, 21 Mar 1793 and reported 19 Aug 1793. Jesse received Lot No. 4. 396 acres of land lying on the 3 Notches Road. Slaves - boy, Lewy; girl, Patt. A bay filly. One fourth of the wagon body. 2 steers. The still & casks. A bed & furniture. He also owed sums to Thomas Poor and his sister Elizabeth to make them equal in value.
1802 Goochland Co VA, Personal Property Tax List [next to his mother]
Jesse Haden, 1 white male, 2 slaves over 16, 1 slave 12-16, 1 horse
In 1803, Jesse was said to be still living in Louisa County, VA, but I suspect this is an error. Although The Virginia Genelogist had an 1800 tax list showing Jesse Haden in Louisa County that year. Vol. 38, p.46.

14 Jan 1804, rec. 20 Feb 1804. Drury Hatcher of Goochland to Jesse Hayden of same, for 20# current money, 12 1/2 acres where said Drury now lives adjoining lands of Hatcher, Mrs. Toter, Matthew Lacy, George Adams on the county line, also Jesse Sheldon. Wit: Corbin Parrish, Eliza. Parrish, Stephen Murrell. Signed Drury (x) Hatcher. Memorandum: Drury Hatcher to remain on the same tract during his life, uninterrupted and have benefit of the same. Signed: J. Hayden.
Note: Drury Hatcher appears in the 1810 census in Goochland, but not in 1820.

1810 Census. Albemarle Co. VA
Jessee Haden. 2m -10, 1m 26-45 [Jesse would have been about 34]. 2f 10-16, 1f 26-45. He was listed near a Wm Hopkins who was over age 45 - there was also a Samuel and William Hopkins Jr. nearby.
A couple of households away from Jesse was a Joseph "Hadon" that I cannot identify - the census has been somewhat alphabetized and another Joseph follows this one. I cannot help but wonder if this might instead be Jesse's brother James. Regardless, this Joseph Haden had 1m under 10, he himself age 26-45, 2f under 10 and 1f age 16-26.
According to "History of Albemarle County", Jesse and Elizabeth emigrated to Kentucky - Cumberland County
Although the Hopkins book states that Jesse died in 1812, I believe this could actually be the date that he disappears from the Virginia records, as he seems to be alive as in the mid 1820's.

Jacob Robertson & Susannah A. Robertson [nee Haden], power of Attorney to Jesse Haden - Money entitled as heirs of Elizabeth P. Haden [late Elizabeth P. Hopkins, dec'd] ...descended to her from her father, William Hopkins who died in Albemarle Co VA.
Also from Cumberland Co DB F, p.110 Samuel H. Haden gave Anthony Garnett his power of attorney in Albermarle Co VA for land he inherited from his mother Elizabeth P. Haden. 5 Oct 1826
DB F, p.118 William A. G. Haden also gave Anthony Garnett power of attorney. 22 Feb 1826
DB F: Samuel H HADEN, power of atty to father Jesse HAYDEN re deed to Stephen WOODSON for land inherited from mother, Elizabeth HADEN. [no date listed in abstract but other surrounding documents are dated in 1826]
Strangely enough, I found still another Jesse Haden in Franklin Co TN in 1820 - this is also where his sister Elizabeth's son Zachariah Murrell was living.
He had a full house: 2m -10, 1m 10-16, 1m 16-18, 1m 16-26, 1m 26-45, 1m over 45. 1f -10, 1f 10-16, 1f 16-26, 1f 26-45, 1f over 45.
This could well be a multi-generational family - a younger couple with child and older parents living with them.
Franklin Co TN is on the TN/AL line. Cumberland Co KY is on the KY/TN line. There two locations not near each other.
