Individual Details

Not until 1836 does a William Proctor appear on the Logan tax lists - he was probably a young man with a single poll and one horse. If so, he is too young to be Thomas Proctor's son William. He was listed in 1837, added a slave under the age of 20 in 1838. In 1839 (the last year I abstracted tax records) he had no slaves or horse, but is listed with 130 acres on the Gasper River.
This could also be the William Proctor, son of Charles, grandson of Hezekiah, who died in 1848:

William's Will. dated Apr 1848, probated 22 May 1848, mentions Elizabeth, mother, and brothers and sisters. No spouse or children. Gives $1 to each of mother, Hezekiah, James O., Jacob, Charles, Elizabeth Haden. Rest of estate to be divided among 3 younger sisters and 1 young brother; Rebecca, Mary, Martha & Thomas

No William Proctor was listed in 1830 or 1840 in the Logan Co census.
