Rev. William Washington Robinson, 86, died at the home of Leeva Bates in Beat 16, Monday morning about 3 o'clock, following a month's illness. Services were held at Providence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock....
Surviving are two sisters - Mrs. Beanie Bates and Mrs. Filey Wyatt, both of Clanton Rt 5; brother, John E. Robinson of Route 5. There are a number of nieces and nephews among them being Mrs. Delene Bates with whom he made his home for the past some fourteen years, and Mrs. Marie Mims who was also closely connected by family association.
W. W. Robinson was the oldest child of Riley & Savilla Robinson; he was born July 2, 1871; joined the church at Providence September 24, 1890. He was ordained to preach, December 13, 1903, remaining active in the ministry for on to forty years. His wife, Cora Wyatt Robinson, died some fifteen years ago. A great tragedy befell the little family of three in November 1911, when the child, William Riley, then about 18, was killed in a surface mine near what is now Walnut Creek Camp. It was only through deeply founded faith in their Maker that these parents were able to survive the shock....
