Above is seen Riley Robinson who celebrated his 104th birthday last February 11. A member of the Baptist church most of his life, he was elected acting superintendent of Providence Sunday School 1870. A few months later he became superintendent, and has held that position ever since. He attends services now only occasionally, but is still honored with the position. He has always liked singing, having taught a number of schools in his younger years. He was married to Savilla Ann Rebecca Mims when he was 18 and she was 14; the latter died 14 years ago, after they had celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. They were the parents of five sons and four daughters, three sons and two daughters now living. As a young married man, Uncle Riley became a member of Providence Baptist Church which had been organized in 1855, that church affiliating with Unity Association which came into being a year earlier. Unity Association last fall observed its centennial, and Providence Church will observe its centennial this coming fall when the association convenes at that church. The old gentleman is still completely alert mentally, and is up and about the place most all the time. He enjoys reading, still possessing very good eyesight. The sixth generation of his family was born this past January 16 (1955).
