First cousins. The "Ewing Genealogy" states that wife Mary was the daughter of George Ewing. Charles had a son George. The records of the New Lebanon Cemetery and accompanying notes state that Mary was the daughter of George Ewing and Mary Caldwell.


Urban Ewing was a sheriff in Bedford Co VA, Washington Co VA, and eventually of Logan Co KY beginning 10 Jul 1798. He moved to Logan Co about 1790 and was one of the first trustees of the town of Russellville. He served several years in the KY Legislature. Urban was a Major in the War of 1812. He moved to Cooper Co MO 1818-19. He died in the fall of 1824 [some references say 1828] and was buried in New Lebanon Cemetery in Cooper Co, though his grave is not marked.

Moved to Logan Co KY about 1796.
From "The Mirror", newspaper published in Russellville, KY. Appeard in "Kentucky Traces" Vol: 19, No.3, Spring 1996: August 8, 1807. Major Urbin Ewing of Logan Co. was elected a member of the Legislature of Kentucky.
Moved with two sons and two of his brothers (one was Chatham) to Missouri about 1820. One of the sons was William who married Sallie Whitsitt Porter.
