Robert Ewing
(1718 - Jun 1787)
Said to have come from Ireland with his brother Charles and settled in Prince Edward Co VA circa 1740 in the Blakey references. However, "Whitsitt Annals" points out that Prince Edward was not organized from Amelia Co until 1753. Ewing Researchers state Robert & Charles first lived in Cecil MD, then Bedford Co VA. Charles married Martha Brooks, sister to Robert's wife Mary.
In CAVALIERS; Vol. V, p.299: A Robert Ewing patented 160 acres Augusta Co on a Branch of Roanoak called the Glade Crk by the mouth & to the head of a large Spring. 15 Dec 1749. PB 27, p.465.
Robert served in Capt Thomas Buford's volunteer company from Bedford Co as part of the army at the Battle of Point Pleasant, 10 Oct 1774.
After Robert's death, the entire family removed to Logan County, KY
Will probated in Bedford Co Court on 25 Jun 1787.
