One John Ewing was in Logan Co very early - this John had no brother named James, but he did have a cousin of that name. There may have been more than one John, too.

24 Jan 1797. Ephraim McLain Sr sold James Ewing 175 acres on the Little Whipporwill, corner of John Ewing's.

Will Book A, p.17-21: Martha, wife. Son Samuel, son Robartus, dau Locky B., son John, nephew John- son of Chatham. Rueben Ewing, bro, runs farm Samuel lives on. Exec: Reuben Ewing, Chatham Ewing, brothers. Wit: George Ewing, Finis Ewing.

Wife Martha – all the plantation, horses, household & kitchen furniture, wagon, working tools, cattle, sheep, hogs. Land to be sold & equally divided at her demise. Negro Bob to remain with wife & then freed. Dick & Rachel, Negroes, to remain with wife.
Son Saml Ewing, the plantation he lives on: George Potters line on the creek, up the creek to the mouth of Boocher crk, by Reubin Ewings to Finnis Ewings line, to John Stanfords line to condition line with William Clark, to Robert Fitzhus line to George Potters line dividing the Spring and down the line made by
William Reading to Walnut Corner, with Potters line to the beginning.
Son Robartus Ewing – 200 acres by certificate on west fork Red River, also my still and vessels thereunto belonging
my town land known as the post oak grove to be sold & one sixth of the price to be paid to John Edgar, son of William
All cattle Robartus has now to be his own
To dau Lockey B. Ewing, Dick & Rachel to be hers after death of her mother, cattle in her possession, horse colt, furniture, etc
To son John plantation where I now live after mother's death
To John Ewing, son of Chatham, one good cow at my wife's death
Brothers Reuben & Chatham & wife to be executors
2nd Consideration: Dick to go to dau Lockey at marriage & she to pay her mother $20 per year
Saml & John to pay certain debts out of their portion
Widow is not to dispose of any part of property without counsel of two of brothers including one of executors.
Chatham & Ruben to take inventory & keep in their hands exclusive of inventory recorded in court
Son John to have my new claim of land
