Eleanor Veale

( - Apr 1746)

Eleanor married (1) William Smoot. (2) William Trigg. (3) John Austin. She had children from both Smoot and Trigg. She died ca 1747, St. Mary's Co MD.

23 Feb 1697/8 Westmoreland Co. VA. Last will & testament of Jeremiah Jadwin proved by Elinor Veale, one of witnesses. John Tanner, executor, granted probate. This would be consistent with the thought that she was unmarried at the time of her father's will, 1695.

Elinor was paid 80#'s of tobo for her attendance two days to prove the will.

Eleanor married between Feb. 1698 and Jun 1700.

29 Nov 1704 William Smoot ack. deed of sale to Lawrence Pope; Ellenor, wife, relinquished right of dower.

Eleanor's first husband William Smoot, died early 1706.

9 Dec 1734 Elanor Austin and John Smoot, Exetrs gave accounts.

Also found, St Mary's, MD were accounts for Jacob Vandever, Administrator Susanna Green, wife of Nicholas Green. 22 Nov 1736
Vandever's inventory was signed by next of kin Eleanor Asten and Dorothy Veale.
Veale researchers have placed Susanna elsewhere but she was the "Susan" named in Eleanor's brother John's will of 1718. There is a lawsuit in Westmoreland Co, 1723, against Deliverance [widow of John Veale] and her new husband William Chandler, stating "Jacob Vandiver & Susanna his wife, one of the orphans of sd John Veal"... She had apparently remarried to Nicholas Green after the death of Vandiver.
