Logan Co DB Q, p.224 2 Feb 1830 William Comfort & Eleanor his wife and Sally Whitsett sold Thomas Blakey their two-thirds of the individed 50 acres tract inherited from William Haden, Sr. Rec. 31 Mar 1830.

1840 Madison Co MS Census. Ellen Comfort as head of household. 1m child age 5-10 [don't know who this is; maybe a son who did not survive until 1850] , 2m 10-15 [David & Joseph] , 2m 15-20 [John & Daniel]. 1m age 60-70 - presumably her father William Whitsitt moved from Logan Co KY. 1f under 5 [Catherine], 1f 5-10 [Elizabeth], and 1f 40-50 [Eleanor]. Oldest daughter Emily had married in 1836.

Ellen Comfort - 5 males, 3 females, 1 voter [but looks rubbed out?]
William Hoy - 4 males, 5 females, 1 voter
Ellen and William's wife, Aurora Proctor, were first cousins.

Found in Madison Co MS in 1850 Census as "Ellen C. Comfort". She was age 50, b. KY. Children still at home were Daniel B., age 26, also born in KY. Catherine age 13 and Elizabeth age 15, both born in Mississippi.

The undersigned John Montgomery & Dorcus Parsins residing in the County of Madison in the State of Mississippi were on the 7th day of January of the present month at the habitation of Ellen Comfort, resident of said County and since deceased who was then and had been for several days previously confined by bodily illness, that the said Ellen Comfort was then afflicted with a Malady of a dangerous and alarming character, and being apprehensive of approaching dissolution, did at or about the hour of Two O'clock P.M. of the day aforesaid, Call upon the persons who were present at her bedside, among whom were the undersigned and expressed her desire of making her Will and did there and then Call upon the undersigned to take notice and bear witness, that what she was then about to say was her will or words to the like effect, and did then and there utter the following testamentary words to Wit:
1st  That her son Joseph Comfort should have a Negro boy named Henry
2nd That her daughter Elizabeth should have a Negro girl name Emiline
3rd  That her daughter Catherine should have a Negro girl named Patsey
That the above bequests were in Consideration of her indebtedness to her said children as their Guardian.  And that the balance of her personal property should be equally divided between her children, Six in number, Viz:  Jno W., Danl B., David, Joseph, Elizabeth, Catherine, that said testatrix was at the time of uttering the said testamentary words and afterwards until her death or near it of sound and disposing mind memory & understanding.

The undersigned being advised of the notice of the will of said testatrix ordered the said testamentary Words to writing on the 13th day of & of proper a/c to make said will, and it further appearing to the Court that the heirs entitled to notice of the presentment of said Will for Probation having acknowledged notice and waived the time to which they are entitled by law (as appears by Exhibit Marked A.  It is therefore Ordered last Will & testament of said deceased & ordered to be Recorded & filed.
