June 1822, Logan County KY Court Orders, Book 7 (1817-1822) LDS Microfilm
#364562
Jun 1822 "Sally P. Whitsitt came into court and made choice of Joseph Haden for her guardian whereupon he entered into and acknowledged Bond in the penalty of $2000 with Cardwell Breathitt security conditions as the law directs."
According to the Whitsitt Annals her father did later go to Mississippi with the Comforts but he was active in the community at this time according to the various court records...perhaps there was some advantage having one of the Hadens as her guardian?
Court Orders, Book 8 (1822-1828) LDS Microfilm #0364563
March Term 1823
p.19 On motion of Joseph Haden guardian to Sally Whitsitt ordered that Charles Morehead, John McCutcheon, Gabriel Lewis & Benjamin Temple or any two of them be appointed to settle with Said Guardian and make report.
p.129 Nov Term 1824 "made choice of William Comfort as her Guardian. She being above the age of fourteen years"
Logan Co DB Q, p.224 2 Feb 1830 William Comfort & Eleanor his wife and Sally Whitsett sold Thomas Blakey their two-thirds of the individed 50 acres tract inherited from William Haden, Sr. Rec. 31 Mar 1830.
George Stallcup was of Sumner County, TN. No children. They moved to Bonham, TX, where they died about the year 1870. [they were alive in 1870 and counted in the census]
1830 Census, Sumner Co, TN
George Stalcup, Sr: 2 males age 10-15, 1m age 50-60. 1f 15-20, 1f age 50-60
George Stalcup: 1m age 5-10, 2 males 20-30, 2f 15-20 [George did not marry Sally until 1831 - this is a strange houshold, could even be several siblings living together, or two couples.]
In 1840, there was a George Stalcup in the Sumner Co, TN, census.
He had a male child age 5-10, and himself, age 40-50. There was a female, age 40-50.
In the 1850 Logan Co Census, there is a 10 year old girl, Nancy Morrow/Mormon - identity unknown, as well as one son, James T. age 21, who was likely a child of an earlier marriage. They lived next door to Thomas and Ann Blakey, Sarah's sister, who lived in the old Haden home so it seems likely they lived at Sally's parents' place.
1860 US Census; Fannin Co TX. Beat #4, p.114, Household 765. G. Stalcup age 57 born in TN; S. P. age 54, born KY. In 1870 They were in Precinct #1 of Fannin Co on p.17; household 105. George Stallcup, age 68, sells fruit, born TN. Sarah age 64, keeping house, born KY.
